Improper Face Nailing & Cement Use |  Flashings  |  Valleys
Mismatched Color  |  Snow Guards  |  Pans  |  Gutters  |  Masonry
Imitation Slate  |  When It's Time for a Replacement

A "quick fix" can be accomplished by roofers not knowledgeable in slate restorations for a few dollars but tend to be short term protection at best, with added cost to properly restore at a later date.

An improper repair utilizing plastic roof cement will generally last a few years. Then as the material becomes brittle, a new leak is inevitable.

Face-nailing is a common practice among roofers unfamiliar with proper slate repair techniques. While this method is much faster, it detracts from any residence with its cheap and unsightly appearance.

Often repairs are performed using sheet metal tabs that easily open to allow the slate to slide out.
