When It's Time for a Replacement
Sometimes gaping mortar joints or even hairline cracks are responsible for apparent roof leaks.
Falling brick and stone from chimneys (badly in need of repointing) can cause serious roof damage.
Worn or cracked chimney caps allow water to penetrate lower into the masonry joints. After several freeze/thaw cycles, these mortar joints can break out causing substantial masonry and potential roof and interior damage.
